Y Niwl - Album

Welsh Surfer dudes rock the beaches with new Album....

Isobell Campbell & Willy Mason

Was listening to this the other night and thought - wow that guy sounds like Willy Mason, it was Willy Mason, I can prove it:

Only a few people in the world can get away with whistling on a song, Isobell's one of them.

PJ Harvey

She's got a new album out in February, with a heavy English influence. There's a great shot in the video below of a wave rolling back out to sea that, at first, I couldn't make out what it was, then it suddenly makes sense - it's genius. here's a new track from it - ````````````` The Last Living Rose.....PJ Harvey Official site

Flying Lotus

Real nice video and chilled tune from Flying Lotus:

David Bowie

Watching this "Old Grey Whistle Test" performance of Five Years, from Bowie, circa 1972, makes you realise how good he is - the delivery is spot on - such a great artist, I just had to post this. Listen to the end and you will hear Bowie asking: "Is that OK?" - like he didn't realise what an amazing take this was...

Also from that same session "Oh, You Pretty Things"...

EDIT:
1974 BBC 'Cracked Actor' documentary - always good to find 'new' old bowie stuff:

Captain Beefheart

Came home from Oslo to hear that Don Van Vliet had died. His music was amazing and if you never saw his paintings, likewise.

From the Old Grey Whistle Test - Upon The My Oh My (1974):

From his last ever album, back in the eighties - Ice Cream For Crow:

Wonderfully weird observations on the man, with the man:

And finally, check out his paintings, here at the Captain Beefheart Radar Station website

Fugazi - Turnover 1991

This band were just always so good on record in the late Eighties, early nineties, but I never got to see them live, which is a big shame - just a great band and I never saw this video before, so makes up for never seeing them (well just a little bit)...

Update (28 Nov 2011): Fugazi have just released a massive archive of live recordings which the band have made over the years - the recordings are mostly taken from the mixing desks at all their gigs and thrown in an 'archive' (cupboard under the stairs). I've listened to a few tracks from these and they sound pretty good quality, considering they were all taken from tapes. The recordings can be had for a nominal sum (1-5 dollars US). Here is the link to that news from Dischord:

Info On the bands

Welcome to my blog....

Hopefully not just inane ramblings, just testing some features at the minute.

I'm a self confessed music nut, so at the minute I am just gonna give some info, maybe reviews of some of the music I buy, but first up, some ramblings from a legend:
